NEWLY launched Democratic Union (DU) President Anthony Njobvu has emerged on Zambia’s political scene with a bang, unleashing direct jabs at President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration, whom he accused of recklessly running the affairs of the nation.
Unveiling his party in Lusaka Wednesday morning, Njobvu wondered as to why the country’s economy was seemingly struggling when the current President is an economist and a billionaire, saying if not leadership incompetence at play, the President must be suffering from a ‘spiritual’ problem.
And Njobvu who earlier said had extended an invitation to both the ruling and some opposition to his party launch as a symbol of unity and peace, which he said has deteriorated, has appealed to the president and other political party members that the DU has come to offer solutions to the many challenges the country is facing.
“Within our camp we have solutions which we want to share with our current government to better the life of Zambians. The good things that the current government has achieved like free education and increase of CDF, we will take over and do more,”Njobvu declared.
Njobvu also called for the urgent need for interventions that will help alleviate the suffering of the people, adding that most households today are struggling to put food on the table.
“We urgently need to attend to the high cost of living that has affected citizens and impacted businesses right across the country,” he said.
The opposition leader states that the country needs a new breed of leaders with a strategic eye and ambition for transformation, and a leadership that has not been corrupted, adding that this can only be realized by a complete change in perception of the source of capital for the development of the nation.
“The appointed time for transformation of our nation has come. A historic moment for our country that speaks to the real change that we have been waiting for,” he added.
