Democratic Union president Ackim Antony Njobvu has challenged government to tell the nation the truth about President Hakainde Hichilema’s whereabouts in order to curtail unnecessary public speculations.

President Hakainde Hichilema was last seen in public on November 26, 2025, during a national briefing at State House, where he, among others, warned against violence in political activities ahead of the 2026 elections.

Away from traditional media, President Hichilema has been visible on his social platforms (Facebook) where updates reportedly from his Choma ranch are being shared.

Government officials, among them, chief spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa have also told the nation that the President is in Choma on holiday at the farm.

Information and media permanent secretary Thabo Kawana on Monday night connected the President via a phone interview on Diamond TV where the head of state said he was well and attending to his farm in Choma.

But his almost a month away from the public has led to some speculations among the public.

Among the concerned is president Njobvu, the opposition Democratic Union leader.

Njobvu has since challenged government to up its game in dealing with Presidential affairs, especially communication.

He said the increasing speculation about President Hichilema can cause panic in the country if not well handled, especially that the country is going for elections.

“Instead of them playing politics and PR, why can’t the President address the nation from Choma and assure us that he is in good health and is merely attending to his farm? This would put the matter to rest and public won’t speculate anymore,” Njobvu said.

“As the Democratic Union, we do wish our President well and want him in good health so that we kick him out of office properly this year,” he added.
