Persons with disabilities in Choma have hailed Joe Muchindu for inclusive leadership in his bid to become the first-ever Choma South Member of Parliament.
Speaking during a meeting with UPND ward officials in Namuswa, Essensio Shiangozi said it was the first time in Choma a leader had embraced persons with disabilities in developmental activities.
Shiangozi described Muchindu as a rare leader who should be supported by all.
He recalled that the disability community in the region had for a long time been neglected and left behind, adding that Muchindu had given them hope.
“And that is why we are appealing to you as party officials to give Muchindu the support he needs because he has everyone at heart, including persons with disabilities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muchindu said his leadership style does not segregate anyone based on physical status.
“Ours is to ensure that everyone is brought on board because persons with disabilities are in the best position to suggest what needs to be done, being the ones affected,” Muchindu said.
He pledged to prioritize accessibility and representation for PWDs in all constituency development programmes once elected MP.
