Refuting Claims of two being Killed by Police in Dengwe Area, Kasempa
August 4,2024-The Zambia Police Service wishes to address and refute recent claims circulating on social media that two individuals were killed in the Dengwe area of Kasempa, North-Western Province, during an operation conducted by our officers.
We categorically state that no such incident occurred. The operation in question was aimed at removing illegal miners from the area and was carried out successfully. At no point did our officers discharge live ammunition at individuals present at the scene.
All illegal miners were successfully removed from the site, and the operation proceeded as planned without any incidents of violence or serious injury. The allegations of individuals being killed are entirely false and misleading.
The Zambia Police Service remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens. We urge the public and the media to verify information with official sources such ourselves before disseminating it to avoid causing unnecessary panic and confusion.
