PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa to ensure that guidelines and procedures are set and effected next month to start the process of reuniting civil servants separated from their families due to transfers.
Yesterday, the Daily Mail published a story on Southern Province Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia director Basil Hibajene backing Government’s plans to reunite married couples working in different towns.
This followed Vice-President W.K. Mutale-Nalumango’s recent statement that Government was considering reuniting couples based in different towns because working in the civil service should not separate married people.
The head of State regrets that some families have been separated by illogical human resource reasoning that saw some civil servants transferred from their beloved ones.
