Rev. Walter Mwambazi Endorses Dickson Jere for Lusaka Central Parliamentary Seat

Prominent clergyman Rev. Walter Mwambazi has publicly declared his support for lawyer Dickson Dingani Jere in the forthcoming Lusaka Central parliamentary election.

Rev. Mwambazi said his endorsement is based purely on conviction and is not influenced by money, political pressure or party allegiance.

He explained that elections provide citizens with a rare opportunity to choose leaders whose competence, integrity and lived experience can help uplift communities and drive national development.

Rev. Mwambazi said he believes Dickson Jere embodies these qualities, citing his humble background and rise through discipline and determination.

He noted that Jere grew up in Matero and Northmead, attended public schools, and has built an impressive career spanning journalism, law, governance and international arbitration.

The clergyman observed that Jere’s journey is not one shaped by privilege, but by hard work and resilience, adding that his professional achievements demonstrate both depth and capability.

“From serving as a journalist with international outlets to practising law at the highest levels, from advising global institutions to working as Special Assistant to President Rupiah Banda, Jere’s experience is both tested and proven,” Rev. Mwambazi said.

Rev. Mwambazi further stressed that Lusaka Central, being the symbolic heart of Zambia, requires a representative who can understand complex policy matters, engage international partners and advocate effectively for meaningful development.

He said his support for Jere is not rooted in party politics but in the candidate’s proven competence and commitment to service.

“If Lusaka Central desires a representative who understands its heartbeat, honours its history and is prepared to champion its future with skill and dignity, then Dickson Jere is a candidate worth serious consideration,” Rev. Mwambazi declared.

The endorsement has sparked discussion among Lusaka residents, with many noting that support from respected voices such as clergy leaders could shape the growing momentum ahead of the next general election.
