Peter Mwale has been installed as the 41st president of the Rotary Club of Maluba in the rotary year 2024, succeeding Fidelis Kabwiri.

In his installation ceremony address, Mwale said it is a huge honour for him to take over the leadership of such a distinguished club, as he outlined several key initiatives and priorities for his one-year term aimed at taking the club to greater heights.

Membership development and retention, fundraising, enhancing public image and committing to improving the club’s visibility and reputation within the community are some among many other key priority areas Mwale highlighted.

He emphasized the Rotary’s mission of service and quoted one of the club’s founding presidents, stating, “We rise by lifting others.”

He expressed determination to continue the club’s tradition of excellence and encouraged fellow Rotarians to uphold the Rotary’s values for the service to humanity.

He further said he wants to enhance fundraising efforts and also plans to implement strategies to raise funds for various charitable endeavours while committing to improving the club’s visibility and reputation within the community.

Mwale observed that over the past 40 years, the club has illuminated the spirit of Rotary and encouraged fellow Rotarians to continue on that path of club excellence.

The Guest of Honour, Felix Mutati, Minister of Technology and Science, and also a member of the Rotary Club of Maluba commended the club for its community-focused initiatives and encouraged the new president to uphold the club’s excellent reputation for service.

The Minister who also pledged renewed commitment to the club encouraged all Rotarians to be proactive and be the torchbearers of the good reputation the club is known for.

The outgoing president Fidelis Kabwiri, acknowledged the support received during his tenure and highlighted achievements such as facilitating the assessment of hospital facilities and securing significant donations of medical equipment and pledged continued support to President Mwale and the club’s future endeavours.

Kabwiri disclosed that bringing in assessors from the
USA to evaluate the facilities of the Neo Natal and other departments in four
major hospitals in Zambia, resulting in securing three 40-foot was another notable achievement.

“Additionally, we made significant progress in
our literacy program on cervical and prostate cancer, offering screening and
resources to communities in Lusaka”, he said.

He said the club now looks forward to a productive year under President Peter Mwale’s leadership, focusing on community impact and service excellence.
