RTSA investigating bus chase

By Francis Chipalo

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) says it has instituted investigations after one of its enforcement patrol vehicles was captured chasing a mini bus loaded with passengers in Lusaka’s Libala township during the day.

The incident left onlookers shocked and has drawn widespread condemnation against the agency on social media.

In a statement on its Facebook page, RTSA says it does not condone such behavior.

“The RTSA wishes to inform the public that investigations into the incident have been instituted.

RTSA does not condone the chasing of any motorist including Passenger Buses as enforcement officers are not permitted do so,” read the statement.

The agency further says it takes all acts of misconduct very seriously in its quest to deliver a fair service to the members of the public and maintain its integrity as a road safety enforcement agency.

Kalemba reports that all hell broke loose in Lusaka’s Libala Township as RTSA patrol officers raised dusts as they chased after an erroring bus driver like the cat and mouse game of “Tom and Jerry”, putting residents and children at risk.
