A 34-year-old elder in the Seventh Day Adventist Church has been dragged to the Mazabuka Local Court on allegations of adultery.

Byta FM Court Journalist reports that Sylvester Mweetwa sued Mata Musokotwane, claiming K15,000 as compensation for being found with his wife at a lodge.

Mweetwa narrated to the court how, on 18th July 2024, he was tipped off to go to the named lodge, where he found his wife and the church elder together.

He added that he had asked three individuals to accompany him to the lodge, where Musokotwane was found wrapped in blankets, while the lady was also clothed but sat with him on the bed.

Mweetwa stated that three of his colleagues rushed to Musokotwane’s house to inform her of the development, but she was not home at the time.

He further narrated that Musokotwane agreed to compensate him a sum of K25,000 for being found at a lodge with his wife, of which he has so far paid K1,000 and surrendered his 43-inch Hisense Plasma television valued at K5,000.

In his defense, the church elder denied the allegations, stating that it was a mere ploy by Mweetwa and his wife.

He noted that he had been chatting with the lady on Facebook and phone messages, hence proceeding to meet her formally at the said lodge.

In her testimony, the lady in question told the court that Musokotwane sent her a friend request on Facebook, which she accepted considering he was a family friend.

She said he started messaging her with love messages, prompting her to confide in his wife, who is her best friend, questioning if he was confronted about it.

She stated that she agreed to meet him at the lodge where she planned on calling her husband so that Musokotwane could be brought to shame for his actions towards a married woman.

The matter has since been adjourned to 11th September 2024, pending judgment.
