Traditional leaders in Serenje District have expressed support for the constituency delimitation process.

Speaking on behalf of all chiefs in Serenje during a meeting held on Monday, 23 February at Malcolm Moffat College of Education, His Royal Highness Chief Chibale thanked the people who attended the delimitation meeting.

The traditional leader confirmed the need to delimit constituencies in Serenje.

Chief Chibale stated that Muchinga Constituency has become too large and requires division.

Stakeholders in Serenje proposed the creation of a third constituency named Nkundalila, which would share borders with Serenje, Chitambo, Mfuwe, and Chibale constituencies.

They also proposed renaming Muchinga Constituency to Chibale, while Serenje Constituency would retain its current name.

In attendance were four traditional leaders: His Royal Highness Chief Chisomo, His Royal Highness Chief Mailo, His Royal Highness Chief Chibale, and Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Serenje.

Senior Chief Muchinda and His Royal Highness Chief Kabamba sent representatives.

This is contained in a statement issued by Insaka Yelala Spokesperson Peter Chola Mwanalesa.
