Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS) president Moses Shuko says unity in the financial sector would contribute to sustainable wealth creation in the country.
And Shuko says the financial sector, like other industries often face significant work-related stress and fatigue due to demanding schedules and performance targets.
Speaking during this year’s Bankers Sports Day at the OYDC Zambia – sports development center over the weekend, Shuko urged sector players to continue partnering with ZIBFS in order to drive transformation and foster economic recovery growth in the financial industry.
He stated that his institution remained committed to addressing issues affecting the financial sector, among them, health of it’s professionals.
“Thus ZIBFS and Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) continues to organize various sporting activities to promote active and healthy lifestyles aimed at preventing Non – Communicable Diseases (NCDs) among financial sector professionals,” Shuko said.
Shuko noted that a heathy professional is a productive asset in the workplace, essential for developing a robust and resilient financial sector.
“Thus, prioritizing good health through an active lifestyle should be every professional’s focus,” he advised.
Meanwhile, Shuko stated that a healthy individual is not only physically fit, but also mentally sharp and emotionally resilient, leading to higher energy levels as well as increased focus.
“When we prioritize our health through regular exercise, nutritious diet choices and adequate rest, we equip ourselves with the stamina and clarity needed to tackle demands of a fast- paced work environment,” he added.
The bankers’ sports day is an annual event where the financial sector and partners unite through sports and exercise to endorse a healthy and active lifestyle among professionals.
The aim is to enhance workplace productivity and acts as platform for networking through various sporting activities such as soccer, volleyball, netball as well as track events among others.
This year’s event was held under the theme; “health is a marathon, not a sprint”. The event attracted hundreds of players in the financial industry.
