A 50-year-old man has died after he was brutally beaten with a piece of timber by his 18-year-old son in Lusaka’s Kanyama Compound.
Geoffrey Miyoba died on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following the incident that occurred on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the report, stating that on the day of the incident, the suspect also assaulted his mother with an iron bar.
Mr. Chilabi explained that the suspect’s mother was attempting to stop him from assaulting his sisters when he turned violent.
He added that when Mr. Miyoba attempted to intervene, the suspect turned on him, striking him with a timber plank embedded with nails.
Mr. Chilabi said neighbors rushed the couple to Kanyama Level One Hospital, where Mr. Miyoba was pronounced dead. His wife is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have since arrested the suspect.
