South African singer and songwriter Bulelwa Mkutukana, professionally known as Zahara, has died.
Although there was no official statement from her family announcing the death immediately last night, broadcast channel SABC confirmed the musician’s demise while quoting Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa.
“I am very saddened by the passing of @ZaharaSA. My deepest condolences to the Mkutukana family and the South African music industry,” Kodwa wrote on X.
“Government has been with the family for some time now. Zahara and her guitar made an incredible and lasting impact in South African music.”
