Speaking when he officiated at the launch of the provincial community mobilization activity, on strengthening multisector coordination in child development and protection in Choma District, Mr Moonze, said the law will undoubtedly bring sanity and reduce misconceptions that the law is only meant to give powers to children more than their parents.
He said such misconceptions can be dispelled through collective understanding and interpretation of the Children’s Code Act, for it to be understood at all levels of society, starting from schools, homes, as well as constituencies.
And the Director for Child, Ms Beatrice Muyambango, called for parents and children to take responsibility in line with the provisions of the law on matters related to child development and wellbeing.
She said children deserve love, care and shelter, which can only be achieved through the effective implementation of the Children’s Code Act which is a milestone in the realisation of the country’s vision for children to survive, thrive and realize their full potential.
Ms Muyambango has further reiterated the need for state and non-state actors among them traditional, civic, and religious leaders to support this very important agenda.
