Zambia Army’s Special Forces Corps has celebrated its 40th anniversary since its formation in 1983.
And Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi has wished them a happy 40th anniversary as they celebrate 4 solid decades of existence, with special contribution not only to the country, but world peace.

As part of the celebrations, the special forces operatives from various units lined up a number of activities such as sports and community services.
Special Forces Group Commander, Brigadier General Charles Swana joined the officers and soldiers in celebrating the 40th anniversary through sports at the special forces group Headquarters.
Brig Gen Swana has called for unity amongst the Special Forces units adding that unit is not only for the serving members but also those who have already retired.
Meanwhile in Ndola, the special forces operatives at Ingwe Barracks commemorated the day by traditionally exercising their marksmanship skills at the range where they took turns in gauging their firing skills to the delight of the Battalion Commander, Lt Col Fredrick Mulonda.
Lt Col Mulonda congratulated the men and their families for safeguarding a 40- year tradition of remarkable duty to mother Zambia and loyalty to command.
And Ingwe Ladies with support form ‘MyBucks’ Financial Services donated a stove and mattresses to the Ingwe Camp Hospital which services both unit members as well as the surrounding community.
The ladies club also donated sanitary towels to girls at Ingwe Secondary and Mwenge Primary Schools, both located within the cantonment.
Meanwhile, special forces operatives at 48 marine organised sports as part of the commemorations, and also had dinner with their spouses.
The decision to form the special forces Corps was birthed in 1981 following the insurgencies that had rocked the country in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
