Fans hoping to see acclaimed South African DJ and producer Sun-El Musician perform in Lusaka this weekend will have to wait a little longer after the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) announced that the event has been postponed.

The concert, which was scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2026, has been pushed to a later date following ongoing developments in South Africa, where reports of xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals have raised concern across the region.

ZAM Announces Postponement

In a statement issued on Monday, ZAM said the decision was reached after discussions surrounding the current situation affecting South Africa.

“The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) wishes to inform its members and the Zambian music community that South African artist, DJ and producer Sun-El Musician’s event, which was scheduled to take place in Lusaka on 6th July 2026, has been postponed following discussions surrounding the current events affecting our brothers and sisters in South Africa,” the association said.

Although ZAM did not directly mention the xenophobic violence in its statement, the announcement comes amid growing concern over attacks on foreign nationals that have drawn widespread attention across Southern Africa.

Organisers Yet to Announce New Date

ZAM clarified that the event has not been cancelled, but postponed until further notice.

The association said event organisers will communicate a new date once consultations have been concluded.

“A new date for the event will be communicated in due course by the organisers,” ZAM stated.

ZAM to Continue Engaging Promoters

The musicians’ body added that it will continue working closely with promoters and event organisers as the situation develops.

“ZAM will continue to engage with and provide guidance to event organisers and promoters as the situation unfolds,” the statement added.

Fans Asked to Await Official Updates

Sun-El Musician is regarded as one of Africa’s leading Afro-house producers, with a loyal fan base in Zambia built through hit songs such as Akanamali, Sonini, Ubomi Abumanga, and Into Ingawe.

The award-winning producer’s Lusaka performance had generated excitement among music lovers, many of whom had already begun making plans for the event.

Fans are now being encouraged to wait for official communication from the organisers regarding the rescheduled concert date and any information concerning previously purchased tickets.

Regional Concerns Continue

The postponement comes as concern continues to grow over reports of xenophobic violence in parts of South Africa, where foreign nationals have allegedly been targeted during recent unrest.

The developments have sparked discussions among governments, regional organisations and various stakeholders, with calls for peace, protection of foreign nationals and strengthened unity across the Southern African region.

For now, Zambian fans will have to wait for a new date to enjoy Sun-El Musician’s much-anticipated performance, as organisers continue monitoring the situation before confirming when the concert will be held.
