A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been gang defiled by an unknown number of men in Mazabuka District, Southern Province.
The incident is said to have occurred on January 17, 2026, around 23:30 hours, in ZAMBIA Compound.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer MOONO NAMALONGO has confirmed the incident and identified one of the suspects only as MOZE, a resident of the same compound.
Mr. NAMALONGO said investigations are ongoing, with police pursuing the suspects, who are currently on the run.
He explained that on the day of the incident, the victim left home to attend a friend’s birthday party in NJOMONA Compound.
At around 23:30 hours, she boarded a taxi which dropped her near ZAMBIA Compound.
Mr. NAMALONGO said that as the girl was walking home, she encountered a group of men, including MOZE, who allegedly dragged her into a house and took turns to defile her.
He stated that a nearby resident responded to the girl’s cries for help but found that the suspects had already fled and the matter was reported to the police.
