LUSAKA, TUESDAY, JANUARY, 31, 2024 [SMART EAGLES]
Golden Party of Zambia GPZ President Jackson Silavwe has challenged civil society organizations to come out in the open and begin to speak for the people.
Speaking at the opposition joint press briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Silavwe said things are not well in the country and it is worrying that the Civil Society organizations who were at the center of the 2021 elections are mute.
He said the country has been invaded by a common enemy, which is the high cost of living and concerted efforts are needed to curb it.
” We have been invaded by a lion called the high cost of living, we need to agree that things are not well in the country and everyone has to be involved,” Mr. Silavwe said.
” The civil society organizations should begin to speak for the people of Zambia. Isn’t the high cost of mealie meal, fuel worth the voice of the Civil Society organizations? It is not normal that non of us in the opposition has been able to hold a political rally and the the Inspector General of Police has justified that,” the GPZ leader said.
And Mr. Silavwe said opposition political party leaders are not bitter but only aspire to see a better country.
” Do we look like bitter people to you here. We have nothing to be bitter about about rather than loving our country and we aspire to see the best out of our country. We need to serve our people, ” Mr. Silavwe said.
