FDD President Edith Nawakwi says Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has no priorities for the people of Zambia and the economy is not likely to improve under his watch.
Speaking when she was featured on Hot FM’s, Hot Seat programme, Ms. Nawakwi said there is a leadership vacuum and all President Hichilema does is fly around and has no time to attend to pressing issues in the country.
“ President Hichilema has undertaken 62 trips in two years, while President Lungu had 37 trips in seven years. He doesn’t have time to sit in the country and look at commodity prices. President Hichilema has no priorities for the people of Zambia or all he does is fly around, there is a leadership vacuum and no direction, and the economy will not improve under his watch. Zambians should start to mobilize because 2026 is near,” Ms. Nawakwi said.
And Ms. Nawakwi said President Hichilema is insecure, angry, and doesn’t want any shred of competition.

“ …his insecurity is not giving him enough time to think about the country. He doesn’t want to be advised. He is not even grooming any leader to cement the democracy that he talks about. President Hichilema’s competition is hunger in people’s stomachs,” she said.
“ President Hichilema doesn’t want any competition and he is petrified about the possibility of someone rising. Have you ever seen a situation where police officers ignored the advice of a Doctor and went ahead and arrested someone about to go to a theater? The police are brutal and they do it deliberately because they want to make the President look bad because he doesn’t want to be advised,” Ms.Nawakwi said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nawakwi, the former finance minister, said sixth Republican President Edgar Lungu’s return to politics has been inspired by President Hichilema’s failure to realize that vengeance does not pay.
“ He has failed to declare his assets, we don’t know how much his wife has. Is it the reason he has failed to move out of the community house because there are deals he doesn’t want the state to know,” Ms. Nawakwi said.
