Munali aspiring parliamentary candidate Thomas Sipalo has announced the restoration of floodlights at Kalingalinga Market, which had reportedly been non-functional for over 15 years.
In a post shared on Facebook, Sipalo described the development as a major step towards improving security and boosting economic activity within the market area.
“The Chi Light is back to life…” Sipalo wrote, confirming that the floodlight at Kalingalinga Market is now operational again after years of dormancy.
Sipalo revealed that the floodlights were originally installed by the late Ms. Edith Nawakwi, who served as Member of Parliament for Munali Constituency from 2001 to 2006, with the intention of providing security and proper lighting for marketeers and the surrounding community.
He stated that his broader goal is to ensure that all major markets in Munali Constituency benefit from restored and functional lighting systems.
“Our goal is to reinstate the flood lights in all markets around Munali that’s Kaunda Square, Chelstone etc, simplifying the implementation of the 24-hour economy, which relies heavily on robust security measures,” he said.
Sipalo further disclosed that his team is also working on installing solar street lights in selected areas of Munali Constituency, as part of efforts to improve safety and create a conducive environment for businesses to operate even at night.
He emphasized that in his political journey, development will always take precedence over political rhetoric.
“In our political journey, development will take precedence over political rhetoric, and we will continue to prioritize it,” Sipalo said.
Sipalo concluded by expressing confidence that through unity and continued development-focused initiatives, Munali Constituency can achieve greater progress.
“Together we will make Munali great again,” he stated.
The move has attracted attention online, with many residents praising the initiative as a practical intervention that supports marketeers and strengthens community security.
Sipalo is the CEO of the Tiikosesa Movement and has been positioning himself as a development-driven figure ahead of the next elections in Munali Constituency.
