October 31, 2024-The Zambia Police Service reports a tragic road traffic accident that occurred today, October 31, 2024, at approximately 10:00 hours along Mosi Road in the Ibex area, Lusaka.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace minibus bearing registration number BAJ 3856, fleet number LSK 15183. The vehicle, which was extensively damaged, was being driven in an East-to-West direction by an unidentified male driver who fled the scene following the accident.

On board the minibus were multiple passengers, including:

8. Dorcas Mwewa, 28 years, also of Woodlands Nursing School – sustained a painful neck, left-hand injury, and a cut on the head.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control due to excessive speed, causing the minibus to veer off the road to the left, overturn twice, and come to a halt against a wall fence.

The Zambia Police Service is actively pursuing all available leads to locate the driver, who is believed to have abandoned the scene. We urge any individuals with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
Our condolences go out to the families of the deceased, and we extend our sympathies to all affected by this unfortunate incident.
