The Tobacco Board of Zambia has officially set 13th April 2026 as the opening date for the 2025/2026 tobacco marketing season.

The announcement was made during a Pre-Marketing Stakeholder Meeting held in Chipata, where Tobacco Board of Zambia Vice Chairperson Katowa Buumba said the marketing season is expected to run smoothly following satisfactory preparations by key players in the sector.

Buumba stated that favourable rainfall patterns in most tobacco production areas will support a successful buying season, although he noted that some regions such as Eastern Province have faced challenges due to recent weather conditions.

He further revealed that inspections carried out by the Board have confirmed that licensed sales floors, buyers and growers have attained a satisfactory level of preparedness, with the required infrastructure and facilities in place to handle the crop.

Buumba said the Board is confident that stakeholders are ready to ensure an orderly marketing process and a successful season.

The Tobacco Board has since announced that tobacco deliveries will commence on 7th April 2026, while official buying will begin on 13th April 2026.

The Board has also urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the regulations and guidelines governing tobacco marketing in order to ensure a profitable and sustainable season for all involved.

The information is contained in a statement issued by Lee Haamunji, Corporate Affairs and Communication Manager for the Tobacco Board of Zambia.
