Two people have been arrested for theft of 366 fertilizer bags belonging to Export Trading Group (ETG).
Sydney Muma, a 47-year-old from Lusaka’s Kanyama compound, believed to be one of the drivers who transported the fertilizer from the warehouse using a white MAN truck bearing registration number BAR 6490 is among the suspects in police custody.
The arrest follows a report of a break-in at ETG company warehouse in Chinika Industrial area filed on April 21st, 2025.
Upon interrogation, the suspect led officers to Mumbwa, where the fertilizer was delivered.
In Mumbwa, officers apprehended a second suspect, Andrew Hamunji, aged 38.
Hamunji, a businessman involved in Agro-related activities, was found in possession of 366 bags of Urea fertilizer, each weighing 50 kilograms and packed in ETG-branded bags, which have since been recovered.
The vehicle used in the transportation of the stolen goods has been impounded, and both suspects are currently in police custody.
Assistant police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the development in a statement.
