Police in Lusaka have arrested two people for the offence of being in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.

This is a case were the two suspects were found in possession of 119 ZANACO Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and 93 Simcards for Airtel and MTN.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale says police were tipped by a concerned member of the community in Ibex Meanwood on March 4, 2023 around 14:00 hours and immediately rushed to the house where a search was conducted.

Mr. Mwale says the ATM cards and Simcards were found concealed in a bag which also contained an ATM verification Machine and some Bank documents.

“The two suspects who are aged 27 and 37 are tenants occupying the same house in Ibex Meanwood. They are detained in Police custody while Investigations are ongoing,” he disclosed.

“And a motor vehicle, Jeep Cherokee was broken into by unknown people who stole from therein money amounting to K21,000=00, by means of forcing the driver’s door open. It happened after the victim withdrew the money from the Bank at Waterfalls area, drove his car to one of the shops located in the same area where he parked and ‘secured’ the motor vehicle before walking into the shop leaving his money in the car compartment.”

He narrated that when he returned to where he had parked the car, he discovered that the door was tempered with and money missing.

“Police were alerted and rushed to the scene. Investigations revealed that the locking system was tempered with using unknown objects,” he added.
