Two female pupils have been struck to death by lightning in Kalomo district, Southern province.

The incident happened yesterday, March 4, 2025, around 16 hours, in Chief CHIKANTA’s area.

Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, AUXENSIO DAKA has confirmed, identifying the deceased as BEATRICE SIMWAAMI, aged 14, and LYNESS MULEYA, aged 13.

Mr. DAKA explained that the pupils were walking from school, when it started raining heavily, and they decided to seek shelter under a tree.

He added that lightning later struck, killing them instantly.
