A 32-YEAR-OLD mechanic of Mkushi, Central Province, has died after his head was ripped open when a ring of a tyre of the truck he was working on flew out of its position.
Adamson Kamanga, who operated at Masansa Market, is said to have died on Sunday between 16:20 hours and 17:00 hours.
Central Province deputy police commanding officer Charity Chanda and Mkushi District Commissioner Jonathan Kapungwe confirmed the incident in separate interviews yesterday.
“He was a mechanic and he died after being hit by a ring. This happened yesterday [Sunday],” Ms Chanda said.
She said Mr Kamanga was welding a ring of a tyre without deflating the tyre.
She said the ring of the tyre had a crack and he was engaged to fix it by a farmer identified as Mr Muchemwa.
“So because the tyre was not deflated, the tyre got hot and it burst and hit him on the head, that is how he died,” Ms Chanda said.
Ms Chanda said Mr Kamanga suffered multiple head injuries and he was rushed to Masansa Mini Hospital.
