A renowned UK Magazine – The Lawyer – has awarded Zambian lawyer Dickson Jere with the prestigious 2023 ADR Award as “Mediator of the Year” in Africa region category.
Jere, who is a qualified Arbitrator/Mediator, has been honoured for his effective way of resolving commercial disputes especially those that are transnational. The Award is part of the annual events by the magazine that honours lawyers across the globe who are involved in Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR).
“I am honored to be the 2023 recipient of this award. I dedicate it to our staff at the firm Messrs Dickson Jere & Associates who have been the pillar of my practice,” Jere said when he was announced winner of the award.
Jere is well known in Arbitration circles and he is Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and past Honorary Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Zambia. He also defended cases at the London Court for International Arbitration (LCIA).
As a qualified Zambian lawyer and member of the Zambian Bar, Jere has appeared in all the superior courts of Zambia and some of the cases he argued are reported in the Zambia Law Reports.
Jere holds two Masters degrees (Intellectual Property and another one in Human Rights Law) and post graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting. He is also trained Public Relations and Media Practitioner with a diploma.

Apart from commercial disputes, Jere is also sports lawyer and arbitrator with wide international experience and exposure and is currently heading the legal and ethics team at the National Olympics Committee of Zambia.
