UPPZ LEADER OFFERS LAND TO GOVERNMENT AMID LAND DISPUTE CONCERNS

Charles Chanda

‎The leader of the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia, Charles Chanda, has made an eye catching proposal to the government offering land equivalent to 1,500 plots.

‎This offer comes after the government controversially issued land titles to the same number of individuals in 2017, on land claimed by Chalimbana University in the Palabana area of Chongwe district.

‎In a Facebook Live today, Chanda expressed his frustration over the situation.

‎He questioned why private individuals are being targeted for land, especially since the Forest 27 matter remains unresolved. “It worries me that only politicians seem to benefit from these land disputes,” he said. “Meanwhile, ordinary citizens are suffering.”

‎Chanda pointed out that Zambia faces a land deficit of three million hectares, making proper land management crucial. “We have so many people who need land to live and work. Instead of creating more conflicts, we should find ways to help those who are losing out,” he added.

‎Emphasizing the impact of these land disputes on families, Chanda stated, “Many people have lost their homes and livelihoods. As a country, we cannot ignore their suffering.” He urged the government to engage in open discussions about land issues and put the needs of the citizens first.

‎By offering 1,500 plots to the government, Chanda hopes to set an example. “This is about restoring justice and providing opportunities for those affected by the government’s decisions. Together, we can work towards a solution that benefits everyone,” he said.

‎The UPPZ leader’s initiative has sparked interest among netizens and leaders alike. Many are eager to see if this offer will prompt positive action regarding land rights in Zambia.
