Isaac Sinka a weightlifting athlete based at the OYDC Zambia has presented three silver medals he recently won in Tunisia during the African Senior Championship.
Sinka won his first silver medal in snatch, second one in clean and jerk and third one in overall performance. The three silver medals he won made him become the first Zambian weightlifter to win three silver medals at such a high-level competition in the 55 kg bodyweight category at the first attempt.
The championship had attracted 98 countries among them Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Madagascar, Botswana, and Morocco.
Sinka who started his weightlifting career at OYDC Zambia in 2018 says he is looking forward to minting a gold medal as he continues his quest to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Commonwealth Youth Games. The Tunisia championship was also used as a qualifier for the Paris 2024.
In receiving the medals, OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala congratulated Sinka for his outstanding performance in a category where they were eight athletes.
He says management will make the gym at the Centre available for his training as he continues to prepare for other upcoming competitions.
