Not in hot soup but hot porridge …..
A LUSAKA man of Mandevu compound only identified as Regan is nursing serious face burns after a woman who he cohabits with poured hot porridge on him but has refused to report the woman to police.
The couple had an argument which resulted in the woman pouring hot porridge straight from the brazier onto her lover’s face.
The victim has refused to seek for medical attention for strange reasons that he fears that his partner who actually poured the hot porridge on him might be arrested.
However Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale has encouraged relatives to report the case to police on behalf of the victim so that the law can take its cause and the victim treated.
“We have been sensitizing members of the public through various media platforms to report such cases to police regardless the gender of the victim,” Mr Mwale says.
Instead both he and the woman have chosen to isolate themselves within the four walls of their apartment minding less the heath consequence that might have on the man.
A friend to the victim tells Times Media that the victims close relatives are now worried about his condition as none has been able to convince him, to seek professional medical attention as the condition continues to deteriorate.
Men have continued to suffer in isolation because of the wrong notion that women are the only real victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV).
