THREE women from Pemba District, Southern Province, have reportedly been scammed an amount over of K1, 400 in Mazabuka by a lady they identified as Margret Zulu of Hillside.
The Victims, Ethel Chiyabi, Bassas Muloongo and Clarence Sikaulu, narrate to Byta FM Zambia News that they are Pemba-based hawkers who sell Pounding Motors in Mazabuka.
According to them, the lady in question showed interest in buying Pounding Motors but indicated that she had run out of cash, hence inviting them to her home were she allegedly had more money.
They state that upon arrival at her house, the suspect prepared a meal and later told them that she works for the Ministry of Agriculture and could supply them with Maize at an affordable cost.
Byta FM’s Immaculate Zulu reports that one of the Victims, Muloongo, says each of them gave the suspect K350 for the said maize, further producing a collective K400 for transport.
She, however, complains that after receiving payment, the suspect believed to be in her late 30s, cut off all communication, while a visit to the house she took them established that she had relocated, leaving them stranded.
Muloongo has since counseled young ladies to abstain from criminal motives, urging them to pursue positive and honest paths in life.
Another Victim, Chiyabi, says she has been left stuck on how she is going to feed her family, noting that she gave the suspect the agreed money in confidence that the maize will be delivered.
