A 36 year old woman of Luanshya district on the Copperbelt has left doctors questioning the reliability of their modern ultrasound machines after giving birth to triplets despite being told that she was expecting twins.
Tisa Mapanje, married for five years with two children, is now a mother of five after welcoming three girls into this world.
Having expected and prepped to welcome twins, the Mapanje family was left surprised after the woman of the house braved the labour pains and delivered three babies.
According to the new mother of the trio, Blessings and Hope were well anticipated bundles of joy who were birthed before the bonus baby, named Miracle.
Just as she tried to lean back to exhale and thank her ancestors that she had indeed made it out alive, the heavens had other plans.
In trying to have a sigh of relief after her second baby came out, the new mother had to be treated to another excruciating pain of labour after the paramedics told her another child was on the way.
“I discovered during child birth that there was another baby coming. It’s exciting as a mother but it’s scary at the same time because you tend to think you can’t manage to give them what they need,” shared Tisa.
Now officially the mother of five, courtesy of her triple surprise, Tisa’s home has now become a mini kindergarten of cries for milk and diaper changes.
Sleepless nights have also become the default setting of the home with Tisa and her hubby taking shifts like overworked security guards at the Bank of Zambia premises.
Despite the challenges, Tisa and her husband are determined to provide for their rapidly expanded family.
However, with triple the blessings comes triple the costs as expenses will now be multiplied by three and two mammary glands won’t be enough to feed the babies.
“I’m using formula and breast milk, the milk is finishing everyday so we are buying everyday. It has become so expensive. The experience has been tough because we are having sleepless nights and long days,” she said.
“The babies are still healthy and kicking. If there’s anyone willing to help with anything, we will appreciate.”
If you can be an extra blessing to the Mapanje family by helping them out, it will go a long way to providing for their family and ensure that triple blessings remain healthy.
