Yango has recruited over 7000 drivers utilizing the taxi ride’s service since its launch in March this year who are averaging around K20, 000 income on a monthly basis, after deductions.
Making this revelation during the launch of the taxi ride service for Ndola and Kitwe on the Copperbelt today, Yango Country Director Kabanda Chewe also disclosed that the company is currently operating with 20 and 15 fleet management partners in Lusaka and the Copperbelt respectively, who act as intermediaries between the drivers and the company.
Ms. Chewe says the service that has grown the number of rides to a multiple of 4 with prices ranging from K30 and 30 percent discounts on the first three rides, is now available to Kitwe and Ndola clients whose recruitment of drivers had taken into account all security needs.
And one of the Yango fleet management partners’ Bissalom Tembo, said the app is now a source of income, employment, cost effective and secure transport services for many.
Meanwhile, a female Yango driver Chinyama Siabwanta explained parameters within which the taxi ride service works to the benefit of the clients with affordable rides, drivers earning up to K5000 per week and the Yango app who claim 15 percent off every ride.
