A 20-year-old boy has collapsed and died while playing football in Itezhi-Tezhi district, Southern province.
SHENY SHIKANYEMU died on Sunday, September 14, 2025, around 16:30 hours, at Shambala football grounds in Chief SHEZONGO’s area.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, AUXENSIO DAKA has confirmed the death, which was reported by the deceased’s father.
Mr DAKA has explained that while playing football with friends, the deceased attempted to head the ball while another player simultaneously attempted to kick it.
He says that the two accidentally collided mid-air, causing the deceased to fall to the ground and after which he collapsed.
Mr DAKA says the deceased, who was bleeding from the nose, was rushed to Shambala Clinic, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
