Young people urged to embrace mobile NRC issuance

Chris Mall

Munali “shadow” member of parliament Chrispin Chiinda has called on young people in the constituency to take advantage of the mobile issuance of National Registration Cards (NCRs) and obtain the important document.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced a national mobile issuance of NRCs in strategic points such as schools in a bid to allow eligible Zambians obtain their national identity cards.

And Chiinda on Wednesday morning undertook an impromptu check in schools around Munali constituency to check on the process.

The community leader visited Vera Chiluba School and Kapweliyomba primary school where he found queues of people (both young and old) wanting to obtain or replace their NRCs.

And speaking in interview, Chiinda has commended government for the initiative.

The aspiring parliamenterian has however called for more manpower to spearhead the process if more people, especially those getting NRCs for the first time are to be registered.

Chiinda alias Chris Mall has also appealed to the responsible ministry to consider extending the process, adding that doing so would enable a lot of Zambians obtain the document ahead of next year’s elections which he described as “crucial”.
