Zambia, Angola Move to Strengthen Trade Ties

Zambia and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade and economic cooperation following a high-level meeting held in Luanda.

Zambia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Angola, Rev. Dr. Elias Munshya, met with Angola’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira, to discuss practical measures aimed at boosting bilateral trade between the two neighbouring countries.

Speaking after the meeting, Ambassador Munshya emphasized that Zambia and Angola share not only a long border, but also strong historical and cultural ties that provide a solid foundation for enhanced economic collaboration.

The discussions focused on strengthening trade relations, promoting private sector engagement, enhancing agricultural cooperation, and improving connectivity to facilitate the movement of goods and services.

Ambassador Munshya noted that Zambia is committed to working closely with Angola to ensure that economic cooperation translates into tangible benefits for businesses and citizens in both countries.

For his part, the Angolan Minister reaffirmed his government’s readiness to continue engaging Zambia in efforts aimed at expanding commercial exchanges and promoting regional integration within Southern Africa.

The meeting forms part of Zambia’s broader economic diplomacy efforts to unlock new trade opportunities and strengthen partnerships across the region.

Zambia and Angola continue to maintain cordial bilateral relations anchored on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared development goals.
