Zambia Athletics team is in Cameroon for the 23rd Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Senior Championships starting from 21 to 26 June 2024.
Before their travel to Douala, Cameroon the team comprising both the male and females was camped at the OYDC Zambia for several weeks.
Our media team had a chat with the national team coach Douglas Kalembo who expressed optimism that the team would put up a good performance in Cameroon.
Kalembo disclosed that the team is made up of athletes like Muzala Samukonga, Rhoda Njobvu, Patrick Nyambe, David Mulenga, Chivwamba Justice, Quincy Malekani, Kennedy Luchembe, Niddy Mingilishi, among others.
Meanwhile, Kalembo stated that the men’s 4x400m relay team currently ranked at the 16th position in terms of Olympic Qualification, will be aiming to beat their time of 2:59.12 set at the African Games in Accra Ghana to cement their qualification status for the games.
The NOCZ has hinted that “As the athletes pursue individual berths in winning medals, they will also be giving a shot towards Olympic Qualification”.
