Police in Mongu have charged and arrested the Mayor NYAMBE MAYUMBANA and Kambule Ward Councilor JIMMY KAUMBA for Assault.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE has disclosed that Mr. MAYUMBANA’s official vehicle a Toyota Hilux registration number AUB 946 has also been impounded.
He told ZNBC News in a statement that the two suspects are detained in Police custody.
On Friday Police in Mongu summoned the Mongu Mayor and Kambule Ward Councilor in connection with the alleged Assault of Imwiko Ward Councilor JACK MWANGALA.
Mr. MWANGALA 42 is alleged to have been beaten by the two suspects after an argument at a drinking spree.
Police said the victim alleged that the Mayor later hit him with his official vehicle around 01:00 hours at BECCA Night Club in Mongu District of Western Province.
