Zambia will be hosting the first ever Southern African Development Community -SADC- spelling bee of inclusivity in Livingstone in the first week of June this year.
This competition will involve participation from four countries including Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Speaking at the Lusaka Spelling Bee competition at Rhodes Park School, Country Director of Spelling Bee Zambia -SBZ- Dr CHILALA KAKOMA BOWA said the SADC spelling Bee will be the first to involve spelling using sign language.
And, Zambia Agency For Persons With Disability -ZAPIT- Director of Rehabilitation and Research Ms AGATHA BANDA said they are excited to have a competition where hearing impaired children can participate.
She said ZAPIT is committed to partnering with SBZ to ensure the attainment of inclusive education.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Flapa Travel MBOLELA TAYLOR PULE said spelling skills and professional excellence have a fundamental link and hence students should embrace this opportunity.
And, Rhodes Park School headteacher Mr KAMUCHUNGU appreciated the organizers for choosing to host this year’s Lusaka Spelling Bee at their school.
