Zambian Ambassador Dr. Elias Munshya Advances Economic Diplomacy in Benguela Province

The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in the Republic of Angola wishes to inform the public that H.E. Rev. Dr. Elias Munshya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Angola, today paid a courtesy call on the Governo Provincial de Benguela, where he was warmly received by the Vice-Governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Cátia Francisca Gertrudes Tchimbinga Cachuco.

The Ambassador is on a working visit to Lobito for a series of engagements with Lobito Corridor stakeholders. The courtesy call provided an opportunity to align discussions at provincial level, focusing on the Lobito Corridor, as well as cooperation in agriculture, culture, social services, and emerging economic opportunities.

During the engagement, Ambassador Munshya noted that Benguela Province already imports seed from Zambia and briefed the Vice-Governor on Zambia’s current surplus maize, which is available for export to Angola. He underscored the importance of practical cooperation that translates policy dialogue into tangible trade outcomes.

The Ambassador also shared details of the Zambia Development Agency’s Invest Zambia International Conference (IZIC) scheduled for July 2026, and formally invited a delegation from Benguela Province to participate. The Conference offers a platform to deepen trade, investment, and institutional partnerships between Zambia and Angola.

Ambassador Munshya emphasised that the Lobito Corridor should be viewed not only as an economic project, but also as a cultural corridor that connects people, history, and shared regional aspirations. The Vice-Governor welcomed the engagement, and both sides agreed to maintain close contact as stakeholder engagements in Lobito and Benguela continue.

The Ambassador further commended Benguela Province for its warm hospitality and growing tourism potential, including visits to the CV Lodge and the iconic Cristo Rei statue.
