A 25-YEAR-OLD woman of Kitwe’s Wusakile who has been in an abusive marriage has died allegedly at the hands of her husband, who is suspected to have burnt her.
The woman, identified as Harriet Kayemba, was allegedly killed by her husband, Junior Mweemba, who is on the run.
The murder happened between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The two had been married for some years and have a three-year-old child together.
Ms Kayemba is believed to have been in an abusive marriage as her husband allegedly used to often beat her.
The couple’s tenant, Nora Zulu, 45, reported that Mweemba returned home on the fateful day around 23:00 hours and was heard troubling the wife.
Ms Kayemba was later heard repeatedly daring her husband to burn her until there was silence in their house.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said Ms Zulu slept around 23:30 after the noise stopped coming from her neighbour’s house….
