Zambian Man Narrates How Alcohol Robbed Away His Life, Admits He’s Unable to Stop

For many young people in Zambia today, alcohol has slowly become part of daily life. What often starts as casual drinking with friends during weekends gradually turns into a dangerous habit that destroys careers, families, relationships, and personal dreams. Sadly, many people only realize the damage after it is too late.

One Zambian man from Kafue has painfully opened up about how alcohol completely changed his life and left him struggling to regain control. Speaking anonymously during an interview, the 45-year-old man admitted that he never imagined alcohol would one day become something he could not live without.

According to him, his drinking journey started shortly after securing his first stable job. At first, it was harmless fun with colleagues after work. Every Thursday evening they would gather at clubs and bars to celebrate the beginning of the week. He says the excitement, loud music, and company of friends made alcohol feel normal and enjoyable.

“I thought I was just enjoying life like every other young person,” he explained. “I never imagined I would become dependent on alcohol.”

However, things slowly changed. What started as weekend drinking became daily drinking. Soon, he found himself taking alcohol before work, during lunch breaks, and even late at night alone in his house. The habit became stronger every month.

His family started noticing strange behavior. He became aggressive, isolated himself from relatives, and constantly borrowed money from friends. His work performance also declined sharply. Despite receiving several warnings from his employer, he continued drinking heavily.

The man says his relationships suffered the most. His longtime girlfriend eventually left him after repeated arguments caused by his drinking habits. He admitted that alcohol made him emotionally unavailable and irresponsible.

“She tried to help me many times,” he recalled sadly. “But I kept disappointing her. I would promise to change but go back to drinking after only a few days.”

After losing his relationship, his emotional pain worsened. Instead of seeking help, he turned to alcohol even more. He says there were days he woke up with no memory of what had happened the previous night.

Eventually, he lost his job completely after repeatedly missing work. With no income, his financial life collapsed. Friends who once surrounded him disappeared, and even close family members became tired of trying to help him.

Today, he admits he feels trapped in a cycle he cannot easily escape.

“I know alcohol is destroying me, but stopping has become very difficult,” he confessed. “Sometimes I try to quit, but after a few days the urge becomes too strong.”

Experts say alcohol addiction continues to affect thousands of Zambian families every year. Many victims suffer silently due to shame, fear, and lack of proper support systems. Addiction often leads to depression, domestic conflicts, unemployment, and severe health complications.

Apart from addiction struggles, many people also face emotional and spiritual challenges affecting their relationships and marriages. Some women struggle with finding genuine partners despite being hardworking, caring, and beautiful. This situation often leads to emotional stress, depression, loneliness, and pressure from family members and society.

Followers of Dr Tambiku believe he has powerful herbs that help people facing such challenges through spiritual consultations aimed at removing negative energy, bad luck, and obstacles believed to interfere with relationships and marriage opportunities.

According to testimonies shared by some followers, Dr Tambiku has helped individuals regain peace in their homes, repair broken relationships, and restore hope in their lives. Others claim they found stable partners after seeking his guidance.

Many people who seek spiritual guidance often do so after trying several other solutions without success. Relationship disappointments, constant heartbreaks, unexplained conflicts, and delayed marriages can leave individuals emotionally exhausted and desperate for answers.

Supporters say Dr Tambiku listens carefully to personal situations before offering spiritual guidance tailored to individual needs. His followers believe the consultations help people overcome spiritual barriers that may affect happiness, love, and personal progress.

While different people hold different beliefs concerning spiritual consultations, many continue searching for solutions that bring peace, stability, and emotional healing into their lives.

The Zambian man battling alcohol addiction says he now hopes to rebuild his life slowly. Although recovery has not been easy, he admits that speaking openly about his struggle is the first step toward change.

He is now encouraging young people to be careful with alcohol and avoid ignoring early warning signs.

“Addiction does not happen in one day,” he warned. “It starts slowly until one day you realize you no longer control your life.”

He hopes his painful experience will inspire others to seek help early before addiction destroys their future completely.

At the same time, people facing relationship struggles, emotional pain, or repeated disappointments continue seeking different forms of guidance and support to improve their lives and regain hope for a happier future.
