Chingola nurse jabs herself to death
A NURSE of Chingola District on the Copperbelt has ended her own life with a lethal poisonous injection.
Sibongile Zimba aged 34, who worked as a nurse at Nchanga South Hospital was discovered dead by her mother and young brother on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, Sibongile’s mother had visited her at her Willougby Court flat on Sunday but when her knocks yielded no answer, she tried to open the door with her spare key but was unable to because the door was locked from the inside.
Alarmed, Sibongile’s mother’s fetched her son who scaled the balcony and entered the house only to discover the lifeless body of Sibongile on the floor.
Near Sibongile’s body was a glass of unknown substance and some syringes along with a cannula suggesting that she may have injected herself with the poisonous substance.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident to Kalemba saying officers immediately rushed to the scene upon been notified.
He said a quick investigation suggested that Sibongile may have and committed suicide around 12:00 hours.
Mweemba added that the body was inspected and no physical injuries were found.
“The body has since been deposited in Nchanga North hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem to determine the cause of death,” said Mweemba.
