The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says it has received the first consignment of Renal Consumables in the country.

The medicines agency says the life-saving consumables are part of the K132 million bulk procurement meant to provide relief for kidney patients undergoing dialysis treatment.

Agency’s Senior Corporate Communications Officer Enoch Lusoke, disclosed in a statement that the consignment includes essential items such as Dialyzers, Bi-bags, Erythropoietin, AV-lines, Blood tubings and Dressings.

Lusoke said more supplies were expected by the end of this week.

Meanwhile, Lusoke says ZAMMSA has since commenced the distribution of the renal consumables to designated treatment centers to ensure continuity of dialysis services and minimize disruptions in patient care.

He adds that the full consignment is expected to last for over 3 months.

“The Agency would like to reassure renal patients and the public of our commitment to ensuring consistent supply and availability of essential health commodities to support quality healthcare service delivery,” he stated.
