AN 11-year-old boy of Kasempa district in North-western Province has committed suicide by hanging himself to the roof pillar using a rope, after his grandmother failed to give him a K2.

According to reports, the juvenile asked his grandmother for a k2 which he intended to use in buying a Freezit for his Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday.

However, the grandmother did not have money but the boy did not take her word to be true as he angrily sneaked back into the house with intentions of ending his life.

After noticing his silence, the mother, Mildred Musaka searched for her child, only to be shocked at the sight she stumbled upon – it was her baby boy after swinging lifeless from the roof with a rope tied around his neck.

Compositing herself after the traumatic ordeal,
Musaka then went to report the matter to the police who inspected the scene and recorded no foul play involved.

The body of the deceased was later deposited at Mukinge Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial.

North-Western Province Commanding Police Officer, Dennis Moola, confirmed the incident.
