THIRTEEN suspected dangerous criminals have escaped from custody at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Police Station in Lusaka after spraying an unknown liquid in the eyes of a police officer during mealtime.

Police deputy public relations officer Danny Mwale has appealed to members of the public to be alert and report any of the suspects wherever they may be spotted to the police.

Mr Mwale said the suspects, all males, pushed the cell door against the officer and scampered in different directions on Saturday around 16:25 hours.

There were 22 suspects in custody at the time at the police station located in Avondale area.
