At least seventeen young Zambians are being trained as Medical Doctors in Venezuela to boost Zambia’s future medical tourism.

The students in Venezuela are currently in 5th year.

Opposition Socialist Party – SP President Fred M’membe said the 17 medical students are sponsored by SP as part of the Party’s Health Programme.

Dr. M’membe said this when he hosted Member of the European Parliament, Maria Arena, who is the Chief of the European Union – EU Elections Follow-up Mission to Zambia, who toured a Mobile Health Outfit by SP in Lusaka’s Garden Compound.

The health facility attends to 100 people on average and refers those with challenges to a Government hospital.

Meanwhile, Dr. M’membe said there is another group studying medicine at different levels in Zambia sponsored by his Party while some have completed.

He has since appealed to the EU to find opportunities for Zambians as more young people want to study medicine.

This is contained in a statement issued by SP Director Media Brian Hapunda.
