A NINETEEN year old teenage of Mikomfwa township in Luanshya is in police custody for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15 year old girl.

The teenages who are both in grade nine became sexually active after they started dating in December last year.

According to the police the two had several sexual encounters before the girl started showing signs of being pregnant.

Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the victim developed persistent vomiting shortly before her pregnancy test came out positive.

“In December 2023 the suspect proposed love to the victim and started having sexual intercourse the first being on December 23, second on December 26 around 18:00 hours in Mikomfwa and the third was on January 10,2024. The victim developed persistent vomiting and that how she was taken to the hospital,”he said.

He said the suspect was arrested after it came to light that he was responsible for the pregnancy.
