A 25-year-old woman of Mufulira has been killed by her 22-year-old boyfriend who later took his life by drinking an insecticide after the two had a misunderstanding.
The incident happened between Monday and Tuesday on the Mufulira-Ndola road.
Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Pathias Siandenge said police in Mufulira received a report from members of the public to the effect that there was a dead body of a female on the Mufulira-Ndola road.
He said the man, Innocent Siuluta, killed his girlfriend, who is yet to be identified, and later went to commit suicide at a lodge.
Mr Siandenge said the scene of crime was visited and police found the body of an unknown female lying along the road with a mosquito net tied around her neck and some visible injuries.
He said investigations were instituted into the matter and it was discovered that Siuluta was also found dead at Maliselino Lodge after he took a poisonous substance.
Mr Siandenge said Siuluta is alleged to have differed with his girlfriend on Monday and then borrowed a Nissan Rashing registration number ACR 9908 belonging to his uncle, Gateson Chifunda, but did not say where he was going.
