A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter in Chinsali District.
The police say the 44-year-old suspect assaulted his daughter on the night of January 19th, when his wife was attending a funeral in a nearby village.
The girl was sleeping with her siblings in the same room when her father forced himself on her, causing her severe injuries and pain.
The mother discovered what had happened when she came back from the funeral and took her daughter to the police station, where she was given a medical report form.
The police arrested the suspect on February 4th and charged him with incest, a crime punishable by at least 15 years in prison in Zambia.
